Kathy Matey Borman was a unique character, super-smart and very funny...always ready for fun. At our fiftieth I learned of her academic success, which made it all the more bittersweet to find that she passed away after dealing with Alzheimer's. I hope all those touched by Kathy's wit and wisdom will contribute to the effort to find a solution to this heart-breaking disease.

Kathy Matey Borman was truly the best and the brightest among us. My memories of her are always with a smile on my face. I am grateful that we spend quite a bit of time together in Chautauqua, Florida and the Cleveland Film Festival before her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Hold everyone you love close and don’t even take tomorrow for granted. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

I was so sorry to learn of Kathy Matey Borman’s passing. She was really a life force- smart, hardworking, filled with curiosity and always ready to have fun. We always wondered how she could be so smart and so scatterbrained, running around with the hems on her skirts held together with scotch tape and her broken glasses with a safety pin. She was always ready to engage in a good conversation, go shopping or share an adventure - truly an unforgetable original. She will be missed.

I couldn't have said it better than Carol Crowley Karm did.  Kathy was one of my closest friends, and she was everything that Carol described!    I will miss her  very much.  She was a wonderful human being!

I also feel the loss of a high school friend that was a character.  I ditto Paula's agreement with Carol's summary of the best of Kathy.  I felt the loss when I heard that she had Alzheimer's because the Kathy that we knew was gone.  I remember slumber parties at her house staying up all night pulling pranks on those who were already asleep.  I feel for her husband and sons to have to lose her twice.  These losses remind us of our own mortality as we continue to age at a rate faster than I would prefer to recognize.

Kathy Matey Borman was the best! Carol said it so well..... smart and scatterbrained all in one. In high school, she would not get her driver's license, so her mother told us not to drive her anywhere. Finally she got her license. How she passed is beyond me!! Yet this wonderful brilliant mind wrote many books on her field of testing science learning. Amazing women!! Love this great high school friend! Miss her!
