GILGER BARBARA LYNNE GILGER, 72, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2014 following a brief illness at the Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 3, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late, Benjamin and Jewel Kotlenz Hersch. Barbara graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1959 and then went on to attend the Ohio State University where she met her husband, Dave Gilger. Barbara married Dave on May 23, 1960 in New Cumberland, West Virginia. She was a 53 year member of the 500 Club, and was a talented artist having created many paintings and crafts. Barbara had a passion for interior design and helped her friends and family over the years by making their homes beautiful. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother and her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Barbara is survived by her husband Dave Gilger; daughter, Lauren (Vernon) Holden; son, Brian (Jennifer) Gilger; grandchildren, Michael Holden, Katherine Holden, Sarah Gilger, Ben Gilger, Emily Gilger ,Grace Gilger; and brother, Richard Hersch. She was preceded in death by her parents. Calling hours for Barbara will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481. Funeral services will follow calling hours, beginning at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
